Barkway Playgroup is a small non-profit making organisation and a registered charity (1004083), run by qualified staff along with a management committee comprising of parents with children in attendance or that have an interest in the group. All those involved are CRB checked. The Playgroup Leader is Sonja Dipple. The playgroup has been part of the village for over 30 years and provides places to children from Barkway and the surrounding areas including Royston. We hold our sessions in the village hall on Cambridge Road, which also has a large, well stocked outdoor play area. We take children from two years old who attend sessions alone. We are open each morning except Wednesdays.
Our Ethos is that Children Learn through Play. We promote equality and believe all children are individuals.
We aim to provide an enabling environment to help children build positive relationships, learn and develop through a range of activities covering all areas of learning, and prepare them for the next stage in their education.
